LITS COVID-19 Response and Continued Services: Phase 1

COVID-19

LITS Public Services Protocols and Procedures for Healthy at Seminary

The general requirements for reopening for office-based businesses are spelled out at the KY Healthy at Work website. Based on those requirements, the Seminary will implement the following: https://asburyseminary.edu/wp-content/uploads/ats-reopening-plan.pdf

General

  • LITS will continue to provide support via the ticket system by emailing helpdesk@asburyseminary.edu and via email, phone, and Zoom for the following services: the writing center, research, archives, technology, administrative technology, collection development, remote online classroom, and faculty support.
  • All areas have Zoom appointments available on request.
  • LITS department is glad to announce that we will expand in-person public services in Kentucky. Starting on 29 June 2020, we will be extending our hours on Monday through Friday to 8 am - 6 pm and adding hours on Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm. Staff will be available at the Help Desk to assist you however possible. We highly encourage all patrons to wear a mask (a surgical or N95 mask is not required) when visiting the Library Building.

Books and Library Loan

  • The Main Collection and Periodical Stacks will be available; however, in order to ensure social distancing, access will be by appointment only. A limited number of study spaces will be available on the first (quiet) and second floors. Books can be placed on hold through the library system (directions here) and will be ready for pickup within three business days of placing the hold (the patron will be notified that their items are ready). Checked-out materials can be returned to the Help Desk for check-in.
  • Limited interlibrary loan (many other libraries are closed and the curiour service is starting back up by the end of July) and books by mail services will continue.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to the Library Loan system
  2. Enter a request for a book
  3. Submit the request
  4. You will be notified that the book has been processed and how to receive your book.

Computers & Printing

  • A limited number of computers are available and printing services will be available. This is closer to our normal services.

Archives

  • Archive research support will be available by appointment, with only one researcher allowed at a time.
  • Archival staff will be necessary to pull out a limited amount of material and return it to the archives. The amount of material that can be requested will be at the discretion of the archivist.

Seminary IDs

  • IDs can be created for those needing access to Seminary buildings or for legal purposes. This process will be facilitated by emailing helpdesk@asburyseminary.edu.

Technology Support Services

  • Technology Support appointments for in-person support must be made in advance.
  • In-office technology support will be delayed because of three major projects: Moving Office Technology Equipment around campus to accommodate social distancing, installing Printers, and installing Zoom Classrooms.
  • Any additional requests to move office technology may require up to one week of lead time to be scheduled and will need to be arranged when the office is empty to allow for social distancing.

LITS Studio

  • The LITS Studio will begin offering on-site video production support for faculty, by appointment only to accommodate social distancing. (https://guides.asburyseminary.edu/ats-studio-covid19)
  • The recording will be done in the studio or outdoors depending on the faculty’s production needs and comfort level. Due to sanitation concerns, the Lightboard and Diagramming station will be unavailable for studio recordings until further notice.
  • For faculty, IDT can provide a list of approved equipment and tips to increase the production level of their home recordings.
