Setting up Weighted Grades
After creating your assignments in Canvas, you may weight them by creating groups. Groups can be created through selecting the "+ Group" button at the top right-hand corner of the page, and you may use groups in Assignments for multiple reasons, such as organizing them by chapter, or week. However, another option that you may want to use it for is to weight assignments. Because Assignments house all activities that have been assigned to students and are graded, this includes all assignments, including discussion posts, quizzes, and exams. This feature allows for easy weighting of all the assignments. You may reach this option through the three dots next to the " + Assignment " button on the top right-hand corner.
The option to weight groups will appear. The groups will be presented as you have named them, and in this example, they have been named according to the type of assignments that may be created for a course. You will then manually be able to weight each group through the entry box.
